Mail is copied into the new mailboxes with folders. You keep using the old system meanwhile.

MX switch
We change your domain's MX record. Mail arriving during the switch is moved with a final sync.

Done
We point Outlook and phones to the new mailbox. Your team carries on where it left off.

About migration
How long does it take?
It depends on the number of mailboxes and mail volume. We give you an estimate during planning.
Can I use email during the move?
Yes. Your old system keeps working while we copy. You switch after the MX change.
Do I need to share passwords?
Copying needs access to the old mailboxes. Where possible we recommend app passwords, and we ask you to change passwords after the move.
Can I do the migration myself?
Yes. Use the IMAP sync tool in your client area to copy mail from old mailboxes yourself. Or let our team do it.
Is it really free?
Yes, migration is free for UltraMail customers.
